Hi, I’m Andrea
Andrea L. Thompson is a survivor of domestic violence, once a woman broken and held down by her own fears, Andrea has now turned her testimony into her purpose and passion and has become an advocate with a mission to end domestic violence all together. After surviving in 2012 Andrea is now the owner of her own business Advocate Against Violence. Andrea is leading advocacy for victims awareness in and outside of the Middle Tennessee area. The platform on which her mission is based revolves around education and awareness and bridging the gap between the community and the victims!
Andrea believes that the beginning to the end of Domestic Violence starts with the community, she has made it her life’s work to involve the public by teaching them how to empathize with victims instead of blaming and judging them and to equip them with the knowledge and tools to properly intervene, all while creating a voice for those that suffer in silence and creating an environment that is not conducive to this type of crime and one that is in complete and total support of victims.
Andrea prides herself on her “outside of the box” approach to this issue and demonstrates through her own personal efforts how to support a victim who is still in the abuse and how to support a survivor who has gotten out, she leads by example as an advocate and over time hopes that the public will follow in her footsteps. Working with organizations like the YWCA, You have the Power, Awake and many local churches, colleges and high schools in the area she is implementing much needed skills in preparation for the small and critical window someone might get with a victim or survivor so the opportunity is not missed.
